Fraud awareness guide

​​Commercial Bank always keeps in mind the safety of our customers. Our guide provides helpful information on how you can protect your card/ account informat​ion and yourselves from being victims of fraud.​

Important Notice about using your Debit & Credit Cards overseas from May 2014 onwards.

In line with the recent rule that applies to all banks in Qatar, all card usage overseas where customers are not requested to enter their PIN will now be declined, unless the customer notifies their bank before travelling.

To ensure that your cards are available for use overseas, contact our 24-hour Customer Service at 44490000 and we will enable your card for all international transactions for the period specified by you.

A few tips that are mentioned in the guide:

  • Never share or disclose your PIN with anyone (including family members, a waiter/waitress, cashiers, sales staff or helpful bystanders at an ATM.
  • Keep your cards in a folder or wallet in an organised way so that if one is missing, it will be noticed immediately.
  • Stand close to the ATM and shield the screen and PIN pad by using your body and other hand to ensure nobody sees you entering your PIN.
  • Ensure that your firewall, spam filter, anti-virus and anti-spyware protection is active and up to date.

Do not respond to emails that make urgent request for information, aren’t personalised and are of a threatening or exciting nature. Remember if it sounds like it is too good to be true, then it usually is.
