Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Recognises Commercial Bank for Leadership in Sustainability

Doha, Qatar – Commercial Bank was honoured with an appreciation award from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change during the national ceremony launching Qatar’s National Strategy to Combat Desertification.The recognition highlights Commercial Bank’s continuous role in promoting sustainability and contributing to Qatar’s environmental objectives under the National Vision 2030.
Held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, this event brought together senior officials and private-sector partners to strengthen collective action for Qatar’s environmental future.
Representing Commercial Bank at the event was Eiman Al Naemi, EGM and Chief Marketing Officer, who joined national stakeholders in reaffirming their shared commitment to sustainability and responsible growth.
Over the years, Commercial Bank has established itself as one of the leading Qatari banks in sustainability, with its MSCI ESG rating upgrade from BBB to A in 2024. That same year, the Bank issued a CHF 225 million Green Bond, the largest of its kind in Qatar, to support projects in sustainable water management, energy-efficient construction, and clean transportation. Its efforts were further recognized by The Asian Banker, which named Commercial Bank the “Sustainable and Green Bank of the Year in Qatar” and awarded it for the “Best Green Financing Initiative,” highlighting its pioneering role in advancing green finance across the region. These achievements have further strengthened the Bank’s position in driving the Nation’s sustainable transition.
